Historical Situations

Mine Eyes have seen the Glory encompasses the area of battle during the American Civil War from the TransMississippi to New Jersey. Below are the maps, situations and orders of Battle for a few representative situations, exhibiting some of the capabilities of the game.

The Peninsula Campaign
After persistent urging from Abraham Lincoln, General McClellan and his army of the Potomac perform a brilliant flanking maneuver to the Peninsula between the York and James rivers and so threaten Richmond. Johnston's army, though outmaneuvered, recovers and is establishing a defense of the Rebel Capital.

2nd Bull Run
General Robert E. Lee assumed command of the army defending Richmond after Johnston was wounded and stalemated McClellan's offensive during the Seven Days battles. He then marched towards Washington forcing a new army under General Pope to hastily set up a defense near the old battlefield at the Manassas rail junction.

Gettysburg
After his remarkable victory over the Union army at Chancellorsville, and despite losing his most capable subordinate, Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee decides to invade the North during the Summer of 1863, hoping to force a decisive campaign and win the war. His army successfully navigated the Shenandoah Valley, captured the Union garrison at Harper's Ferry, and began to concentrate itself near the small Pennsylvania town of Gettysburg. The Union Army of the Potomac, now commanded by General Meade, meanwhile attempted to interpose itself between Lee and the important cities of Washington and Baltimore.
